Patton Oswalt Shares Video Of Doctor Who Audition

Let's add Patton Oswalt to the growing list of actors who'd like to join BBC's Doctor Who. The iconic sci-fi series has become increasingly popular since the network revived the series years ago, and Doctor Who only continues to grow. Apparently, it has grown enough for actor Patton Oswalt to share his alleged audition for the beloved series. And, now, you can watch the video for yourself.

Earlier today, Oswalt posted a video of himself riding on what appears to be a golf cart as a rather musical man drives him around. The mysterious driver can be heard singing the iconic theme song to Doctor Who, and Oswalt pulls an impressive stunned face. The footage stays centered on the actor's face until the song begins to die out, prompting Oswalt to draw the camera closer to his face.

"Dear [BBC America]: Here is my Doctor Who audition," he wrote on Instagram. Fans of the actor and Doctor Who are clearly freaking out about the new video, and many of them are hoping the BBC will find a cameo role for Oswalt to drop into.

In fact, BBC America went so far as to tweet Oswalt about the 'leaked' audition. The network wrote, "You appear to already have your own TARDIS which is excellent news. Meet you in Gallifrey last Thursday? We'll bring the tea."

So, who knows? Maybe the Doctor isn't the only Time Lord these days. And, no, we're not going to even bring the Master into this conversation. He might scare off Oswalt from taking a role.

Of course, Oswalt isn't the first actor who has said shared his interest in Doctor Who, but he might be the first to share his audition clip. Earlier this year, Eddie Redmayne confessed he would star on the British series. During a recent interview with Radio 1 Breakfast host Nick Grimshaw, Redmayne said he would be interested in taking a ride on the TARDIS. "Would I do it? Yeah! It's a great show. I do see the resemblance. I see the scarf, I see the coat, I see the bow tie," he said.

Even Doctor Who alums are interested in returning to the series. Matt Smith, who played the Eleventh Doctor, has hinted that he'd come back to Doctor Who if asked. John Barrowman has also said he'd be willing to reprise his fan-favorite role as Captain Jack Harkness if there were an opportunity to do so.
