Marvel Comics has revealed that writer Jeff Lemire and artist Humberto Ramos will usher mutantkind into the All-New, All-Different Marvel era with Extraordinary X-Men #1 in Oct.

According to the report from CBR, during the 8-month gap between the end of Secret Wars and the beginning of Extraordinary X-Men, something big will transpire between the Inhumans and X-Men and the Terrigen Mists will begin having unexpected effects on mutants. With Cyclops and other members of the X-Men missing, Storm takes the lead and forms a new team consisting of X-Men old and new, including the time displaced Jean Grey and Old Man Logan.

The cover shows the X-Men surrounded by the Terrigen Mists, and the Inhumans will have a significant role to play in the series.

"I'm not going to spoil my story, obviously, [Laughs] but I will say that in the missing eight months since Secret Wars, something has occurred between mutantkind and the Inhumans," says Lemire. "A major event has occurred which has reshaped the position of both Inhumans and mutants in the Marvel Universe and repositioned them in a different way that maybe fans aren't used to. And that's where our story picks up and that's the story we're telling. Beyond saying that, I'm not going to say anything else right now."

In addition to Storm, young Jean, and Old Logan, the team also consists of Iceman, Nightcrawler, Magik, and Colossus.

Extraordinary X-Men #1 ships in Oct. Check out preview images in the gallery below.
