The first preview of Empress, the new series from Kingsman and Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar and Star Wars artist Stuart Immonen, has been released online.

Empress is billed as a space opera that focuses on family and being a parent. The series follows the wife of a galactic dictator who decides to take her three children and flee from her malevolent husband. With her bodyguard to protect her and her family, she attempts to reach her home world.

"It's interesting that this genre has tended to skew more Blade Runner and Alien, but Star Wars proves the market is so potentially enormous, especially given that those characters just came in and dwarfed the sales on all Marvel and DC's top characters last year overnight," Millar tells THR, referring to the way Marvel's Star Wars comics dominated sales in 2015.

The full 7-page preview will run in the pages of Millar's other series, Huck, this week. Huck is already in the works as a movie, and Millar always has an eye towards Hollywood, so don't be surprised if this space opera makes its way to theaters.
