Hack/Slash TV Series In The Works

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Seeley's popular Hack/Slash comic book series is headed to the small screen.

Since 2009, Hollywood has been trying to develop the cult horror comic into a feature-length film -- Marcus Nispel (Conan the Barbarian, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) was attached to direct -- but nothing ever materialized. Now Relativity Television is developing Hack/Slash into a television series.

They've hired veteran screenwriter Skip Woods (Swordfish, A Good Day to Die Hard) to pen the script. He'll serve as an Executive Producer on the show, along with Adrian Askarieh and Ray Ricord. Daniel Alter and Geoffrey Yim will serve as Co-Executive Producers.

What's Hack/Slash? At the end of most horror films there is a lone survivor and routinely that person wants to forget the horrors they witnessed and get back to some kind of normalcy. Hack/Slash puts a new spin on that formula. Cassie Hack, a teenager that survived a serial killer's murder spree chooses to use her experience as inspiration to hunt down nightmarish killers that prey upon the innocent. The monsters/killers she encounters are in the vein of classic Hollywood slashers, like Halloween's Michael Myers, Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger.

THR adds, "The producers are now out to directors with the goal to make it a dark and gritty show in The Walking Dead mold."
