Legendary Pokemon Won't Appear in Pokemon Go Until Worldwide Release is Complete

Although many fans had hoped that a Legendary Pokemon would appear at SDCC, Niantic Labs CEO confirmed that they were holding off on any Legendary Pokemon events until Pokemon Go had finished its worldwide release.

Currently, Pokemon Go is available in the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia and most of Europe. Most of Asia, South America and Africa are still without the game. As the servers have stabilized somewhat in recent days, a worldwide release is expected to near completion by the end of July.

The Legendary Pokemon are expected to appear in special events, in which Pokemon Go players meet up to defeat the Pokemon together. Few details were given about the Legendary Pokemon, but it was hinted that the Legendary Birds were tied to what team you were on.
