NY Rangers Goalie Sports A Ghostbusters Themed Helmet

New York Rangers Goaltender Cam Talbot ain't afraid of no ghost.

So much so, that he has a special Ghostbusters-designed helmet featuring Slimer, the franchise's top ghoul. Re-coloring the normally-green ghost with a blue hue to match the Rangers' color-scheme, Slimer also glows in the dark to truly intimidate Talbot's opponents. That, or he'll just really add to the pre-game light show.

"Slimer is big, he is sliming and drooling, and he looks very hungry," designer David Gunnarsson told Yahoo! Sports. "Lucky for us Cam Talbot is also known as the 'Goalbuster', so he can take care of the Slimer and get him rid off his face."

Slimer's placement on the Rangers' roster only makes sense. After all, the Ghostbusters are New York City's premiere spirit hunters, while the Rangers represent the Big Apple in Manhattan's Madison Square Garden.

And good news for those rare sports/science fiction/comedy fans out there—The Rangers are still in the NHL playoffs. So, you can catch them—and Talbot's Slimer helmet—this Saturday at Noon, when they face the Tampa Bay Lightning. Maybe they can stuff a proton pack underneath their hockey pads for the occasion.
