Power Rangers: First Official Look at Alpha 5 in the New Movie

With new looks at just about every character in the film, the new Power Rangers trailer is chock full of reveals. One of those belongs to Alpha 5, the helpful diminutive android that works with Zordon to train and monitor the Power Rangers. Voiced by Bill Hader, Alpha 5 should follow a similar path to his role on the TV series, helping the Rangers and maintaining their base, now revealed as a giant spaceship buried underground.

While we'd seen a toy of the new design of Alpha 5, which is drastically changed from the original TV series, this is our first real, clear look at the character. His metal body is still primarily red, though as is often the case with live-action films, a darker, more crimson. He has two eye-lights affixed to his "flying saucer" style head, which contains what almost looks like a nebula inside it.

Sadly, Alpha 5 does not say "Ay yi yi" in the trailer, but hopefully we'll get at least one of those out of him in the full film. Here, we only hear him say, "I was kind of expecting a little more," clearly unimpressed by those chosen to be the next generation of Power Rangers. Check out the gallery below and trailer above for more looks at the character.

"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late."

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

Power Rangers is set to land in theaters on March 24, 2017.
