What's The Difference Between Goku & Universe 6 Saiyans?

Dragon Ball Super wasn't ever going to be satisfied toying with just one set of Saiyans. Toonami latest episode of the show's dub confirmed Universe 6 had its own thriving Saiyan race. So, naturally, fans are wondering what differences the two groups have between them.

Physically, the Saiyan races diverge over key points, but it is there cultural upbringing that differs the most. Universe 6 never saw its Saiyans become enslaved under Freeza or have their race wiped out by the tyrant. Fighters like Cabba grew up on their home world, Planet Sadala, and tamed their desire to battle for good. Rather than conquering planets, Universe 6 Saiyans use their skills to protect planets for unrest.

Dragon Ball fans would not be amiss to compare Universe 6 Saiyans to heroes like Gohan rather than Goku. The new race appears more docile and logical in its decisions, lending itself to a human-saiyan temperament if anything.

When it comes to power, Universe 6 is still able to kick butt all over the place. The race has a one-up over Universe 7 by not being born with tails, but it leaves them unable to transform into a Great Ape. The terrifying transformation may escape guys like Cabba, but they make up for it will inherent skill. Dragon Ball Super proves later on that Universe 6 Saiyans are able to acquire Super Saiyan forms more quickly than Goku. Cabba, for instance, doesn't need a full-blown trauma to make him go Super Saiyan.

Sorry, Future Trunks. You just drew the short-stick when it came to motivational deaths.

As for overall appearance, there is little difference between Universe 7 Saiyans and their counterparts from Universe 6. Vegeta does note that Cabba wears clothes his people would consider to be old, but it acts as a uniform for the boy. Both races share similarly spiky hair, and the style turns gold when a fighter goes Super Saiyan.

For fans, Dragon Ball Super's addition of new Saiyans gives the series untold content to play with. There's no telling how many Saiyans dwell in Universe 6, so there is a chance Goku and Vegeta may come to meet more fighters as the anime goes on. So, here's to keeping fingers crossed Dragon Ball Super has a Saiyan-centric arc planned for the future.
