5 Comics You Should Give A Chance This Week - April 12th Edition

While Wednesdays mark the celebratory "hump day" for must, longtime comic fans know the day for the treasure trove of new books that fill up the shelves of your favorite comic stores.

Companies like DC, Marvel, Boom! Studios, Dark Horse, Image, Legendary, Oni Press, Titan Comics, and more all put out new releases, and there's plenty of books to get your fills worth. In fact, there are almost too many books to keep track of for the average fan, so why not pick some of the highlights for you so you can hone in next time you're at the shop? That's the plan, so whether you're a fan of superheroes, high fantasy, science fiction, noir crime thrillers, or licensed projects, there's more than likely something you can sink your teeth into.

X-Men Blue #1

The ResurrXion continues with X-Men: Blue #1. The book features the 5 time-displaced original X-Men, including Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, and Iceman. The team is operating outside of the core X-Men team, and have enlisted quite the surprising person to lead them, as seen on the last page. It's a new day for the team and a great jumping on point for lapsed or new fans. ComicBook.com's Jamie Lovett says "if you're a mutant-lover who also enjoys the teen drama and fun of series like Young Avengers, Young Justice, or Teen Titans, X-Men Blue is made for you."

Wonder Woman #20

Wonder Woman is still trying to get used to things outside of paradise island, and that will only get more difficult with the machinations of the sorceress Circe. The popular villain makes her Rebirth debut in this week's issue and looks to be around for quite some time.

Rose #1

Rose is a brand new series for Image and has a wealth of potential for the big fantasy fans out there. Centered around a young girl Rose, the world Finch creates is one devoid of hope, but the awakening of the Guardians just might be the thing to turn the tide.

Rose #1 is written by Meredith Finch with art by Ig Guara and a variant cover by David Finch. The official description can be found below.

Faith #10

It's about time that Faith got her own legion of doom, and that tour de force starts to form in the newest issue of Jody Houser's hit series. This is the start of a new arc, so it's a great time for fans who have been waiting to give this a try to hop on board.

Godshaper #1

If you're looking for something truly different, Boom's Godshaper is for you. A mysterious lead character, a layered world, and a charming sidekick make this one of the most pleasant surprises in some time. If you've got some room in your buy pile this week, definitely think about giving this a chance.

Godshaper #1 is written by Simon Spurrier with art by Jonas Goonface. The issue features a regular cover by Goonface and another cover by Sonny Liew. You can view the official synopsis below.
