Arrow: Here's What Stephen Amell Loves Most About Felicity

There are few relationships over on The CW as controversial as that of Olicity. The ship sails on Arrow thanks to Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak's ongoing affairs. And, while he couple may be separated for now, there's still love between the two Star City heroes. Just ask Stephen Amell.

This weekend, the Arrow actor showed up at Heroes & Villains Fest in Nashville to meet with fans, and Amell did a Q&A panel as well. It was there the actor got asked what he personally loves about Felicity, and Amell had only good things to say about Smoak's wits.

"I love how smart and how capable she is. That she can stand on her own and do her own thing," Amell said.

"I think that one of the biggest lessons that all of us had to learn is that, he doesn't always need to help her. He can just let her be her own person."

During season five, Arrow fans got to see just how independent Felicity could be. The heroine found herself flying solo following her break-up from Oliver, but Felicity did not mourn the loss too hard. The heroine wound up snagging another lover (even if it didn't end up well) and got acquainted with a dangerous hacker group known as Helix. According to showrunner Mac Guggenheim, Felicity's storyline was crafted to put her in "Oliver's footsteps a bit" and have her experience the solitude of heroism.

"She's going to get a chance to experience things a little bit more from Oliver's perspective," Guggenheim explained. "I think the reason they broke up was her difficulty to see things from Oliver's perspective. They broke up fundamentally because she didn't trust Oliver, and the reason she didn't trust Oliver is she couldn't understand why he made the decisions he made."

Moving forward, it is unclear how Arrow will mend or rift Felicity's relationship with Oliver, but Amell seems game to be friends with the heroine. The pair have worked well together both professionally and personally since Felicity debuted a few seasons ago. Now, it's just a matter of time before the pair are finally about to hash out their on-screen grievances for good.

Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his "family".

Based on the characters from DC, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti ("The Flash," "Supergirl"), Marc Guggenheim ("DC's Legends of Tomorrow," "Eli Stone"), Wendy Mericle ("Desperate Housewives," "Eli Stone"), Andrew Kreisberg ("The Flash," "Eli Stone," "Warehouse 13") and Sarah Schechter ("The Flash," "DC's Legends of Tomorrow").

Supergirl premieres on Monday, October 9th at 8 pm, while The Flash debuts on Tuesday, October 10 at 8 pm. Legends of Tomorrow moves to Tuesdays this Fall, airing right after The Flash on October 10. On Thursday, October 12 at 9 pm Arrow will premiere to round out the DC roster.
