Black Flash's Return To DC TV Universe Confirmed

Death is coming for the speedsters of the CW's DC Comics television universe.

The Flash showrunner Andrew Kreisberg confirmed at the Television Critics' Association's Winter Press Tour on Sunday that the Black Flash will appear later this season.

Not only that, but Kreisberg teased that the Black wouldn't be contained to just an appearance on The Flash.

"I will say that you might be seeing him on multiple shows," Kreisberg teased.

The Black Flash in the DC Comics Universe is a form of death that is fast enough to catch up with speedsters. Barry Allen became the Black Flash for a short time after the original was found dead. The mantle was later picked up by Eobard Thawne, the former Reverse-Flash and Professor Zoom, who had become a Black Lantern zombie. Thawne is currently a member of the Legion of Doom on DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Hunter Zolomon, known as the killer speedster Zoom, was featured in Season 2 of The Flash, played by Teddy Sears. In Zoom's final onscreen moments, he was transformed into the Black Flash. However, Sears may not return to play the Black Flash. He's busy with a role in Fox's 24: Legacy.

Kreisberg has plenty of ideas for the character. "He's a classic character. We have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him around. There's something so scary about him, something even scarier than when he was just the man, because now it's now he is the Grim Reaper, he is the devil. How do you stop the devil? So it presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears."
