Gotham: What Happened To Barbara In The Season 3 Finale?

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR GOTHAM SEASON 3 FINALE!

Some people expected the Season 3 finale of Gotham to turn Barbara into Harley Quinn, but the episode delivered a shocking twist instead. Jaws still on the floor, everyone is left wondering, "Did Barbara just die?"

When Barbara picks a fight with Tabitha, she seems to come out as the winner. Babs stands in the safe house, gun raised toward Tabitha, announcing her victory. However, Tabitha thought one step ahead, and uses her whip to pull a spotlight down onto the water-logged floor beside Barbara. She's instantly electrocuted, and she falls to the floor.

With her eyes staring into nothing, and smoke rising from her skin it seemed as though Barbara was done for.

However, as Gotham fans have learned by now, a character isn't really dead until you can really prove it. Penguin and Fish have come back from way worse, so there's no reason Barbara couldn't walk away.

There's also the Harley Quinn clue that David Mazouz gave last week. The actor confirmed that fans would see Harley debut in this finale. Well, if you were watching, there was no Harley to be found.

Could he have meant people would see Harley's origin? Since Joker isn't exactly a factor for Barbara, she would need a new origin story if she were to truly become the villainess. Why not get electrocuted and turned into an absolute psychopath from the event?

There's no telling what fate is ahead for Babs, but comic-logic says that her story has just begun.
