DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of Wonder Woman/Conan #2, on the stands next week from writer Gail Simone and artist Aaron Lopresti.

In the crossover, Simone brings together a pair of characters who are almost more concepts than individuals; during an interview at New York Comic Con, she told ComicBook.com that each of the characters was conceived as the "ideal" specimen of their respective gender when the character was first created.

"When hey asked me if I was interested in writing it, of course my first response was 'hell yes,'" Simone said. "Being able to write Conan was exciting, but then you throw Wonder Woman in the mix again and I was like yes, I really want to do it….But to do something that's never happened before? That is exciting."

She added that artist Aaron Lorpesti was chosen because she knew he loved drawing barbarians and fantasy creatures from their previous work experience.

"I know a lot of people expected it to be a male versus female team-up, but it's not about that," Simone added.

You can check out the official solicitation text for the issue below, and the preview pages in the attached gallery.

Wonder Woman/Conan #2 will be on sale Wednesday. You can get a copy at your local comic shop or pre-order a digital copy now.

Diana has escaped the Cimmerian gladiator's arena, but she's exchanged that battleground for an equally dire fate. Now she's chained to Conan—the warrior who refused to fight—and they've been sold to a pirate's crew! When their ship founders in a storm, a leap into shark-infested waters seems like the safest course… Co-Published with Dark Horse Comics.
