Can You Take Young Kids To See Wonder Woman?

If you've been on the Internet at all over the course of this week, you've likely seen the raving chatter about Wonder Woman. People are loving the movie. They're especially loving how the film - as well as the performance by Gal Gadot - is empowering women and girls all over the world.

This makes it sound like every young kid, boys included, should go to see this movie. However, some parents may be hesitating. No matter how uplifting or empowering, this is still an action movie, set during the devastating events of WWI.

So, should you be taking your young children to see this movie?

That's a tough question to answer, mainly because each and every parent is different. Some parents are okay with their kid seeing a little violence or hearing a curse word, while some aren't. And it's not like the film is Deadpool, where it's clearly not meant for your child.

Wonder Woman falls into a bit of a grey area. The nature of WWI was violent, no one doubts that. And the film doesn't shy away from the dark tone of the war. But it's not like this is Saving Private Ryan and there are body parts and blood flying everywhere. The violence is definitely on the mild end.

Outside of the war scenes, there isn't much that children couldn't see. There are some moments of innuendo, but there are no words there you wouldn't want your kids repeating. You may have to answer one or two awkward questions afterward, but nothing too ridiculous.

Wonder Woman is rated PG-13 for a reason, and that's because the material can get intense or emotional for a child. However, the reward here is great for kids and families. They get to see a female superhero on the big screen for the first time in their lives. Not only that, but it's just a great superhero movie all-around.

This film is definitely one to take a kid to, if you believe your child can handle it. If your child watched Captain America, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, or anything like that, there's no reason they won't love Wonder Woman. And there's no reason you shouldn't take them to see it.

Patty Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder and Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.

The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros.
