Justice League: New Merchandise Appears To Tease Kryptonite Cameo

DC Entertainment's shop has just released a mountain of new Justice League movie merch, including wall art, clothes, bags, pillows, statues and toys -- but one item has the internet more curious than all the rest.

That's a t-shirt that's described as "Kryptonite green" in the sales page.

"Keep those pesky Kryptonians at bay with this stylish Kryptonite-green T-shirt, inspired by Justice League," the description says. "When you've got an evil plot that you need to keep safe from pesky alien superheroes, there's only one glowing green mineral you need! This stylish green T-shirt depicts the heroes of Justice League silhouetted in the telltale green light of Superman's least favorite element. Make sure to keep some extra at your evil lair, just in case."

The shirt is certainly not an indication that Kryptonite will play a major role in Justice League, although given its prevalence in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would not be surprising.

In the recently-released Comic Con trailer, Steppenwolf seems to say that part of the reason Earth is ripe for invasion is the death of Superman. One might wonder, if he had Kryptonite, why a single Kryptonian would be a big enough concern to help keep him at bay in the past, but perhaps that's overthinking.

In any event, it's a cool shirt, and if Kryptonite is actually a plot point in the movie -- this looks like a whole city surrounded by a Kryptonite aura -- here was our first official indication...but we aren't holding our breath (even for Kryptonite gas).

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, based on a story by Snyder and Terrio, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons.
