'Legends of Tomorrow' Heads to the 80s In "Phone Home" Photos

The CW has released photos for 'Phone Home', the fourth episode of Legends of Tomorrow's third season

The episode will see the Legends traveling into the past to save one of their own, a young Ray Palmer who first goes missing and is then found dead. The blast into the past turns out to be more than just a proactive rescue mission, however, when it turns out that little Ray has made a very unusual friend -- a baby Dominator alien.

As the title and presence of an alien suggests, the episode is a sly reference to Steven Spielberg's classic 1980s film, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and is part of what showrunner Phil Klemmer has said will be an interesting and moving season for The CW show.

"We have these incredibly fun and hilarious romps with Billy Zane being P. T. Barnum or a baby dominator being displaced into young Ray Palmer's childhood back in the '80s," Klemmer told ComicBook.com. "At the same time, there are moments that will move you to tears in this season. I think that's a really surprising thing for a show that has as much fun as ours."

Hopefully the Legends will find time for a little fun while saving young Ray. The episode takes place, both in real life and on television, on Halloween.

Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW on Tuesdays at 9/8c following new episodes of The Flash.
