The CW has released a new, one-minute-long trailer for the second season of Supergirl, complete with action, fighting, new villains, and a reference to Gotham City.

Even though we've already seen (and loved) the season premiere, we can't identify some of these characters for you, because there are scenes here that take place in future episodes.

But if you look closely...that woman around the 38-second mark really kind of seems like it could be Miss Martian, doesn't it? Backlit by all the fire, it's impossible to say, but we are looking at somebody with a skintight outfit and/or no clothes, no cape (so it isn't Kara), and J'Onn J'Onzz in the foreground.

Check it out:

At one point in the trailer, there's a man attacking Supergirl. Despite being bald and wearing a torn yellow t-shirt, it's not Luke Cage. Without a clear look, it's hard to say, but it actually kind of looks like the scalp of Vartox, who was the villain in the Supergirl pilot. Could it be that he's either returned, or that there's another member of his race out for revenge? With Cadmus in the mix, anything is possible.

Note: it seems as though the image in question is from Supergirl season one, episode 19, and features the villain Indigo. Thanks to Facebook commenter Efren Soto for the correction. Wonder if that means we'd look back at the pilot and see that scene is also really just Vartox and not somebody new...!

As the show heads to The CW for its second season, it's pulling out all the stops, having cast a number of new characters, many of whom are familiar to longtime DC Comics fans. Among the newcomers are Hoechlin as Superman, Lynda Carter as the as-yet-unnamed President of the United States, Chris Wood as longtime Legion of Super-Heroes member Mon-El, Sharon Leal as Miss Martian, McGrath as Lena Luthor, Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, and Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer.

Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes return October 10 on The CW.
