This article contains spoilers regarding tonight's episode of Supergirl.

For fans of both Guardians of the Galaxy and the Arrowverse shows, they probably recognized a familiar face while tuning into Supergirl tonight. With Alex Danvers kidnapped by Rick Malverne and placed in an undisclosed location, Kara and the DEO face an ultimatum: bust Rick's father — Peter Thompson — out of prison or watch Alex die by drowning.

Malverne, the episode's villain, lived in Supergirl's childhood hometown and ultimately found her secret identity years ago. After his father was imprisoned, he stalked Kara and Alex Danvers for a year, hatching a scheme that would allow for his father to be broken out.

Henry plays his father, who ultimately has to decide whether he's going to be the voice of reason that prevents his son from throwing his life away.

While a relatively minor character in tonight's episode, Thompson was played by Gregg Henry, an actor that should be known by fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Henry also played Peter Quill's grandfather in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy.

A frequent collaborator with James Gunn, Henry is also slated to reprise his role as Peter's grandpa in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which debuts domestically this Thursday. Henry most recently lent his voice to use as The Voice in Gunn's The Belko Experiment. He also had roles in both Super (2010) and Slither (2006), both of which were written and directed by Gunn.

No stranger to pop culture, Henry also appeared in Star Trek: Insurrection and very recently served as Brother Blood in DC Animated's Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.
