Superman Takes Flight in New Supergirl Season 2 Teaser

The CW has released a new teaser for the forthcoming second season of Supergirl, featuring Tyler Hoechlin's Superman taking flight.

In the clip from the season premiere, which runs about 2 minutes, fans get their first looks at both Hoechlin's Clark Kent and his Superman in action, getting a taste for the Richard Donner-inspired take on the mild-mannered reporter.

You can check it out below, via EW.

As you can see (and Kreisberg says in the interview), fans (and reporters) were wrong when speculating that Superman would be called in to check on the Kryptonian pod that crashed in National City at the end of the show's first season. Instead, he and Kara simply respond to the same potential catastrophe, and find themselves teaming up -- and catching up, with some family time finally in the offing for the first time since Kara donned the cape and tights.

"While the chemistry between Hoechlin and Melissa Benoist, who plays Supergirl, is a high point of the episode, it should be clear that this is still very much her story. The premiere sees Cat Grant get about as much screen time as Superman, and she has one of the best moments, too," says the ComicBook.com advance review of the episode. "The episode is as Richard Donner-inspired as you can get without actually playing the John Williams score when Superman comes onscreen for the first time. This means that folks tired of the stoic Superman from Man of Steel and Batman v Superman should be very happy with the premiere, but it also means longtime viewers, regardless of their feelings about the current state of the DC Extended Universe, will be rewarded for close attention."

Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Season two starts on October 10, 2016, on The CW.
