Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins have much to celebrate, as their entry into the DC Extended Universe became the third-highest-grossing film of 2017, in addition to receiving praise from fans and critics alike. The duo decided to kick off 2018 by guesting on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, engaging in a heated game of charades, which you can watch below.
The competition between the teams got pretty heated, having to act out things like The Mighty Ducks, Twilight and "Hips Don't Lie." Ultimately, Gadot came out on top after successfully getting Fallon to guess "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
The competition may have gotten heated, but it's easy to see how the actress and director make such a great team, leading to Wonder Woman's massive success. Luckily, Gadot recently shared we can expect even bigger things from the film's sequel, slated to hit theaters in November 2019.
"Other than the wonderful work Lynda Carter did in the TV show, this character was never really told on the big screen." Gadot explained to Entertainment Weekly. "We just see her origin story. But there's so much to explore with this character who has 75 years of legacy, there's so much material and so many ways and I'm psyched about it."
Jenkins, who is returning to direct the sequel, also can't wait to give audiences more of the breakout superhero.
"The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you're really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie." Jenkins said last August. "The most exciting thing about [the sequel] is literally seeing her loose in the world now, living those classic stories. Here's Wonder Woman, and what can she do?"
While audiences may have been surprised by how captivating Wonder Woman became, Gadot knew from early on how special the project was.
"There's always how you feel about something but you never know how it's really going to be once it's all done and ready to go. It felt like it was special," Gadot shared of her experience filming Wonder Woman. "When we shot the movie we were so invested and so thoughtful with every decision we made with the character and the story, I was so privileged to work with an amazingly phenomenal filmmaker, Patty Jenkins. But we didn't expect it to be so well received."
The upcoming Wonder Woman sequel lands in theaters on November 1, 2019.
