Here's Why 'Wonder Woman' Did Not Have A Post-Credits Scene

Marvel Studios popularized post-credits scenes, but Warner Bros. has also embraced the trend. The DC Extended Universe has built up a repertoire of teasers, but Patty Jenkins said Wonder Woman didn't get a clip for a simple reason: the movie just didn't need one.
Recently, the Wonder Woman director sat down with the Toronto Sun to talk about the DCEU. It was there Jenkins admitted her movie didn't get a post-credits scene because the crossover wouldn't have felt organic.
"I'm not always a believer in post-credit scenes. I feel like they make sense if the films are extremely similar," Jenkins started. "I think if you know the next movie is going to be set in the same world or have the exact same tone, then I think it makes sense. To me, it does not make sense to have a commercial for a completely different style of movie in the credits of another movie."
Continuing, Jenkins stressed that Wonder Woman was too different from previous DCEU projects for a crossover to work
"One of my favorite things about the DC Universe is they were super supportive of me doing my own tone, but there's no other movie that they have that's of the same tone. So it just felt weird to do some other crossover. Also, the end of the movie was the end. It wasn't, 'Tune in later for more.'"
Fans knew Wonder Woman wouldn't be getting a post-credits scene before the movie ever dropped. Producer Charles Roven admitted the movie would forego the staple.
"I'm not going to say we'd never do [a post-credits scene]," Roven told CinemaBlend. "There was one in Suicide Squad. But I don't think that we want to feel that we're forced to do something just because we didn't in the past."
Of course, Wonder Woman fans have not been separated from the DCEU totally because of the clip's absence. When the film hit Blu-ray this month, the home video included a special deleted scene which Jenkins filmed during reshoots. The clip acts as a would-be post-credits scene starring Etta Candy. The footage teases the discovery of an all-important Mother Box, one of the principal items featured in Justice League. The tag brings Wonder Woman into the DCEU without sacrificing any aesthetic, so fans can treat the Etta Candy extra as the teaser that never was.
