Battlefield 1 has a big expansion, In the Name of the Tsar, coming next month, which will include the usual assortment of new maps, weapons, and other goodies, but it will also bring some pretty major gameplay shakeups. For instance, developer DICE has just revealed Specializations (essentially the Battlefield version of Call of Duty's Perks) are coming back. Here's how they'll work, and a list of all the specializations on the way:

How it works

Specializations are broken down into two different variants: Generic and Kit Specific. Every class has access to 7 Generic Specializations and 2 Kit Specific Specializations. All players will start with 3 Specializations by default: Flak, Cover and Quick Regen. Further Specializations will be unlocked via completion of new Service Assignments. Specializations are designed to give players more opportunities and diversity within each kit, not necessarily more power overall. Choices should provide more depth and strategy to gameplay.

Medic:

Support:

Scout:

Specializations can currently be tried out in Battlefield 1's Community Testing Environment, which is now available on Xbox One and PS4 in addition to PC.

Battlefield 1In the Name of the Tsar marches onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in September.
