Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy May Subtly Hint At A Spyro The Dragon Remaster

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy may have just released this past Friday, but fans are already revving up the hype machine for the possible return of another classic PSOne-era series. Yes, it seems the new Crash Bandicoot may tease a Spyro the Dragon game, albeit in a very subtle way.

For those who never played the original version, Crash Bandicoot: Warped on PlayStation let you play a demo for Spyro the Dragon if you entered a variation of the Konami code on the title screen (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square). Well, YouTuber ThornsOfSerenity tried to enter the code on the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy game select screen, and it doesn't unlock a new Spyro demo or anything crazy, but it does do something. If you enter the code while you have Crash Bandicoot: Warped selected, the highlight on the New Game/Continue options disappears. This doesn't happen when you've got Crash or Crash 2 selected, so it seems to be an intentional reference.

So, what does this mean? Well, developer Vicarious Visions would have had to program this into the game, so maybe they're hinting at something to come. Or, maybe, a Spyro demo will be added to N. Sane Trilogy once a new game or remaster is announced? Of course, it could also just be a subtle Easter egg for people who remembering entering the code in the original game.

Rumors of a Spyro the Dragon remastered trilogy spread earlier this year after the official PlayStation Netherlands Facebook page shared a picture of Spyro along with other iconic PlayStation heroes like Crash Bandicoot, Kratos and PaRappa the Rapper.

Even if Spyro's classic PSOne games aren't currently being remastered, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it happens eventually. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has generated a surprising amount of excitement and solid reviews, and will almost certainly be a strong seller. Activision owns both Crash and Spyro, so it would make sense to move Vicarious Visions onto to the purple dragon for their next project.
