Capcom has been doing a pretty good job with its adventure series Dragon's Dogma on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, but it's been a while since we've heard anything from it. However, that'll change this fall when the publisher brings one of its better adventures to newer platforms.

It has confirmed that it will release Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this fall, though a specific release date wasn't given. This comes just in time for the original game's fifth anniversary, so, yeah, it's a good way to introduce it.

The team described the forthcoming port in the announcement below:

"Featuring a variety of unique classes, a robust system of AI-controlled companions called Pawns and intense real-time combat from the designers behind the Devil May Cry series, this epic masterwork took our hearts by surprise and quickly became a fan-favorite.

So, if you missed the original releases on PS3 and X360, or the PC version from early 2016, this is the perfect chance to journey on to the fantastical world of Gransys in search of the dragon who very literally plucks your heart from your chest and flies away."

While it didn't detail specifically what changes would be coming to this version of the game, more than likely we'll be seeing enhanced visuals of some kind, as well as the possibility of additional quests – although it could also be a straight-up port.

It's very possible that Capcom will have more details on this game – including a more specific release date – at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in just a few weeks, along with other announcements that are sure to leave fans of their older games quite pleased.

The original Dragon's Dogma did a swell job introducing a fun new adventure to the fold, and Dark Arisen continued that adventure quite blissfully with a number of additional features, so the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 port should certainly be welcomed – provided it's not too high priced a port, that is. We'll find out soon enough.

In the meantime, be sure to check out the gallery of fresh screenshots from the forthcoming port!
