Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War Gives A Lord Of The Rings Villain A Surprising Sexy Makeover

Hey, remember Shelob? You know, the huge freaky spider Frodo and Sam have to fight in The Two Towers? She's pretty memorable as far as creepy monsters go, but not really a huge player in The Lord of the Rings books or movies. Well, that's about to change as Middle-earth: Shadow of War reimagines Shelob in a major, and rather surprising, way.

Yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con Warner Bros. Interactive and developer Monolith Productions revealed some more storyline details about Middle-earth: Shadow of War, including that Shelob will play a big role and take on a very different form. An attractive human lady form. No, really, a sexy Shelob is now a thing that exists. Check her out in the new Shadow of War trailer, above.

Interestingly, the trailer implies Shelob – who, I need to remind you, is actually a giant spider – might not be all bad, as she tries to warn Talion that Sauron has designs on Minas Ithil, and not to trust Celebrimbor, the powerful wraith he shares a body with. Oh, and it seems Shelob may have the One Ring in her possession and Celebrimbor promises to bring Sauron to her if she returns it to him, to which she replies "Why would I do that, Ringmaker? You and Sauron, are one." Hmmmm! Is Shelob just messing with Talion and Celebrimbor, or does Shadow of War have some major twists in store?

It seems like Shadow of War will have an interesting, and possibly divisive, story, but personally, I'm most interested in the possibility of more sexy reimaginings of classic LotR baddies. Sexy Gollum? A sexy Balrog? Sexy Saruman? Why, the possibilities are endless!

Middle-earth: Shadow of War storms onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 10.
