A new fighting game just released for the best console in the world. Well, technically, the game is a bit older as it originally launched for Neo Geo arcade cabinets back in 1996, and you should know that by "best console in the world," I mean the Sega Dreamcast. The game is called Breakers, and it's now available to purchase for the Dreamcast for $39.99. We have some screenshots in the gallery located on the top and bottom of this article.

How gnarly is that?! We're getting a new 2D fighting game release on the console that shoved fighting games back into the mainstream competitive limelight in the early 00s. You can check out some video footage above to get a taste of the action. As you can see, Breakers is a highly polished fighting game with a unique roster of characters, each with their own unique special moves and flashy combos. This release is officially licensed by Visco Games, the original developer.

If you're baffled as to why anyone would want to publish a game for a console that has been out of production for over a decade, then you're not cool enough to play it! The Dreamcast still has a lively and vibrant publishing scene, believe it or not. Indie developers have taken to the Dreamcast in recent years, and it's become chic to release your game on Sega's sexy little console. Last year I remember reporting on another Dreamcast indie release, Ghost Blade, which is a beautiful and action-packed sh'mup.

If you still own a Dreamcast and you fancy booting it up again for a night filled with old-school gaming and reminiscing, then you can totally buy Breakers right now. The store listing is right here. Make it an old-school night! Grab your buddies and spend the night smashing buttons and playing Breakers, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Street Fighter Alpha 3. I think you'll be surprised by just how well the Dreamcast holds up after all of this time, and you'll be the coolest kid on your street as the only person to buy a new Dreamcast game in over a decade.

Check out a few more screens and some shots of the beautiful Dreamcast packaging in the gallery below!
