Like all major online shooters, Star Wars Battlefront II will be holding an open beta shortly before launch, but it turns out a select number of players may get to test out the game earlier. It appears as if EA and DICE will once again be offering a closed alpha for the latest Battlefront, and this time Xbox One and PS4 players are invited as well.

It seems Star Wars Battlefront community manager Mat Everett jumped the gun a bit, posting guidelines for reporting bugs in the Battlefront II alpha on the game's official forum. That itself is a bit of a whoopsie, as an alpha hasn't even been announced yet, but the post also indicates the alpha is coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The post quickly disappeared, but, of course, the Internet never forgets. Redditor CaptainPhantasma21 made sure it was preserved…

2015's Star Wars Battlefront also had a closed alpha, but it was only available for PC players. That alpha kicked off on July 2, 2015, so if EA and DICE are planning another one, it's likely happening soon. Keep an eye out -- invites for the Battlefront II alpha may be going out imminently!

If you miss out on the Battlefront II closed alpha, you can still get an early taste of the game via the open beta. We still don't have a date for the beta, but expect it roughly a month before the game's launch in early-to-mid October (the last one kicked off on October 8). Folks who pre-order Battlefront II will get early access to the beta.

Star Wars Battlefront II strikes the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on November 17. You can check out WWG's latest coverage of the game, right here.
