Star Wars Battlefront II: Get Your First Look at the Versatile Heavy Trooper Class

Today the PlayStation Blog caught up with EA's Star Wars content manager Hollander Cooper to take a deep dive into one of Star Wars Battlefront II's four trooper classes. When loading up a match players will be able to choose between the Assault class, Specialist class, Officer class, and the Heavy Trooper class. We're going to take a closer look at the Heavy Trooper.

Depending on your faction and the era, the look and aesthetic of your Heavy Trooper may look drastically different. A couple of new images were posted to show some examples:

"When it comes to gameplay, these different classes will follow the same rules of engagement no matter their era. When it comes to the Heavy, that means focused firepower with heavy weapons. Whether you need to lay down a rain of suppression fire, hold the line near a capture point, or brute-force your way through a narrow corridor, the Heavy is uniquely qualified to pull this off thanks to their two primary abilities:"

It sounds like the Heavy Trooper could actually be one of the most tactically sensitive and versatile classes in the game. Depending on the game mode, having a line of heavy units at the forefront of your advance could very well make or break your offense. The combat shield will make for a perfect laser sponge, while a few sentries flanking either side of your advancing squad can clear a path and take out the lone-wolf daredevils that try to thwart you.

You'll get to go hands-on with the Heavy Trooper soon. The Star Wars Battlefront II open beta rolls out on October 6, or even sooner on October 4 if you pre-ordered the game! Stay tuned to WWG for more in the weeks preceding launch.
