At E3 2017 Bethesda revealed The Evil Within 2 via a trailer that was heavy on stylish imagery, but light on details. Fans were left wondering – what exactly is The Evil Within 2 all about, and will it actually be scary? Well, we now have some hints about the first question, and a major confirmation on the second.

Our latest The Evil Within 2 trailer, which you can check out above, is packed with the kind of twisted Lovecraftian creatures and trippy imagery you expect from this series, and we also get some hints about the game's storyline. It seems The Evil Within 2 will focus on Sebastian Castellanos' quest to rescue his daughter Lily from a corrupted alternate reality. Here's how Bethesda describes The Evil Within 2 and its story:

It's a race against time for Sebastian as he fights to survive and find his daughter Lily before she's lost forever in a crumbling STEM world. As he searches, he is haunted by the ghosts of his past and his own insecurities, but he never loses hope. Determined to save Lily, Sebastian will travel to the depths of this new STEM world and face off against anything it throws at him.

Of course, how he goes about his mission is completely up to you. In The Evil Within 2, you are free to explore as much or as little as you choose, and upgrade your weapons and yourself accordingly. Do you prefer a stealthy approach, complete with setting traps and sneaking around threats in your path? Or would you rather go in guns blazing and take down anything that dares to stand between you and Lily?

Bethesda also revealed the digital bonuses you'll get for pre-ordering the game:

Pre-Order Exclusive The Last Chance Pack

The Evil Within 2 creeps onto PC, Xbox One & PS4 on October 13 (which, fittingly, happens to be a Friday).
