James Cameron Becomes A Badass Colonial Marine Action Figure

James Cameron is the legendary director behind such action-figure worthy films as Aliens, Avatar, and The Terminator (and let's not forget the Titanic Transformer and Jack and Rose set with floating door accessory). However, he has never been an action figure himself - until now. Indeed, NECA has announced that a James Cameron 7" Aliens Colonial Marine figure will debut during SDCC ahead of a November release. This is both ridiculous and highly amusing - especially when you consider some of the details that have been added to the figure:

USCM Colonel Cameron becomes the highest-ranking officer in the Aliens movie universe. The 7" scale figure has over 25 points of articulation and features the likeness of James Cameron as he appeared during the filming of Aliens. There are a few fun Easter eggs relating to the director hidden on the figure itself: a Canadian flag shoulder patch, the Lightstorm logo (Cameron's film production company), and a Pandora planet patch.

If that wasn't enough, the figure also comes with pistol, pulse rifle, tracking device, and two "behind-the-scenes" accessories: a replica clapboard and the viewfinder Cameron wore around his neck while filming for setting up shots.

So, it would seem that Colonel James Cameron of the United States Colonial Marine Corps can effectively neutralize Xenomorphs and simultaneously film the battle for a documentary that he's working on. I have to imagine that James Cameron had himself a good chuckle while signing off on this.

Entertainment Weekly reports that James Cameron action figure is available to pre-order at the NECA website and will also be sold at Toys 'R' Us stores. Comic-Con attendees will able to see the figure up close at the NECA booth (#3145) beginning on Preview Night. Check out more pics of the figure in the gallery.
