Exclusive: The Voltron Classic ’84 Legendary Lion Collection Unveiled

Playmates Toys has given us an exclusive first look at a new addition to the Voltron toy line that's set to arrive at retailers starting this January. Behold the Voltron Classic '84 Legendary Lion collection.

According to the description, this line features "all new technology" that will allow the lions to combine and create "the most advanced Voltron ever". Indeed, the product features look pretty fantastic:

• Unlock over 60 sounds by combining all 5 Classic Legendary Lions to form a 16" Classic Voltron. Features phrases and sound effects from the show!
• Voltron's chest lights up.
• The Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow Lions include jaw blades and projectile firing battle accessories.
• The Red Lion comes with Voltron's sword and the Green Lion comes with Voltron's shield.
• The Black Lion has over a dozen sounds and phrases.

Old school fans of the classic TV series as well as fans of the Netflix series Voltron: Legendary Defender will likely enjoy this set, which is currently available to pre-order in two groups. The Blue, Green, Red and Yellow Classic Legendary Lions are being sold together for $79.99 while the Black Lion is being sold separately for $35.99.
