The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made fans beg for Adam Warlock since its creation, so the series finally gave audiences what they wanted a few months ago - well, mostly. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hit theaters this spring, and the film ended with a clear teaser about Warlock's impending debut. The film shared a look at the character's iconic cocoon in action, and a new close-up of the contraption has finally been released.

Over on Art Station, Ian Joyner made fans' day when the freelance concept artist shared artwork he did on the cocoon for Marvel Studios. The image, which can be seen in the gallery below, gives a in-depth look into the complicated machine birthing Warlock.

Warlock's metal cocoon is entirely ribbed with metal bars, and it has network of intricate tubing running throughout its body. A multicolored light can also be seen emanating from cocoon's top, and fans have noted the energy source looks familiar to that of an Infinity Gem. Of course, it doesn't seem like the MCU's Soul Gem has anything to do with the hero's creation. The stone is still MIA, and all signs point to its location being revealed in Thor: Ragnarok come November.

Comic fans will surely see the overlap between Warlock's cocoon in the canon and the MCU. The character's original bod had similar knobs trailing on its sides, and their overall shapes are alike. In the comics, it is the Fantastic Four who first stumble upon the being's cocoon after the team hears of Warlock and his Enclave creators. However, the hero will embrace a far different origin in the MCU.

At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans were shown a post-credits scene featuring Ayesha. Still smarting from her loss against Star-Lord's crew, the ruler admits she is now creating the perfect creation that is being crafted in a golden glowing cocoon. Ayesha even says she will call the specimen Adam, and fans have been left to speculate about when the fan-favorite will make his actual debut.

So far, it looks like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or Avengers 4 will house Warlock's arrival. Director James Gunn has stressed the cosmic hero won't appear in Avengers: Infinity War, so Warlock still has some time in his cocoon left to go.

Fans will be able to watch the line over and over again when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits Digital HD on August 8, followed by Blu-ray and DVD on August 22.
