Ghost Rider Returns To Agents Of SHIELD

The title of last night's episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, "The Return," turned out to have a double meaning. Just as the agents made their return to reality from the Framework, so too did Ghost Rider make an early return to the series.

Ghost Rider's appearance came close the end of "The Return," after the Zephyr One had already left the base with the agents on board. General Talbot and his men remained behind to check the ruins of the SHIELD base for any further threats. They confirmed three dead at Aida's hands and then left.

Once the coast was clear, the portal that was built to rescue the agents trapped in the shadowy, in-between dimension in a previous episode opened once again. Ghost Rider walked through, swinging his hellfire chain and looking like he is on a mission.

Ghost Rider was previously confirmed to return for the Agents of SHIELD season finale. This moment seems like an appetizer to hold fans over until next week.

Ghost Rider was last seen on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD in the winter finale when he had his final showdown with his uncle, Eli Morrow. Morrow had been endowed with godlike powers, but Ghost Rider used his hellfire chain to hold his uncle in place while the device Morrow had built opened a tear in dimensions and sucked both of them inside.

Ghost Rider is arriving at an opportune time for SHIELD, who are now facing off against both Aida, who is now gifted with multiple Inhuman powers, and the Superior, who has become a replicating robot.

In the Marvel's Agents of SHIELD season four finale episode, "World's End," With the surprising emergence of Ghost Rider, Coulson and the team attempt to stop Aida from ending the world.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns with a vengeance for the fourth exciting season in an all new time period, Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET. In the aftermath of their journey to another planet, Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team were driven more than ever to put an end to the Hydra organization. Little did they know that they were up against the deadliest threat they've ever faced – an extremely powerful Inhuman, Hive, who was transported back from Maveth in the body of their worst enemy, Grant Ward. The team was able to thwart and kill Hive and take down Hydra, but they are all still mourning the death of fellow agent and Inhuman, Lincoln Campbell.
