Scarlett Johansson Teases Black Widow's Reaction To Guardians Of The Galaxy

For someone that outsmarted Loki, fought an invading alien army (Chitauri) that emerged from a magical portal over New York City, and had a romantic relationship with someone that could Hulk-out when getting too excited, there probably isn't all that much that could surprise Black Widow. Even when she'll meet the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War, Scarlett Johansson doesn't envision her character being utterly astonished by their more unusual members like Groot and Rocket.

"Somebody said to me the other day, they were like: 'Is Black Widow ready for the Guardians of the Galaxy?'" Johansson said during MTV's Happy Sad Confused podcast (via ibtimes). "The last time aliens descended on New York I think my character was like, 'Alright, I've seen it all. I'm good.' So I don't even think like a talking tree will faze her at this point." She added, "As long as it feels true to me, then this conversation with another character is fine — even if it's a tree."

After reading the Avengers: Infinity War script, she recalled feeling just how immense the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become. "But certainly, reading the script, the universe has expanded to a point where it just… It's like incomprehensible at this point. I'm just like, 'Okay, this is all happening,'"

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the MCU since 2008's Iron Man. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
