'Avengers: Infinity War' Fan Poster Teases A Depressing Fate For Groot

Could one of Marvel's most beloved characters meet their end in Avengers: Infinity War? That's what one fan artist seems to believe.

Vin Diesel, who plays Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently shared an unofficial character poster for Avengers: Infinity War. In it, two versions of Groot can be seen looking very solemn, with the caption "Heroes Will Fall". You can check it out below.

Diesel's post has since worried some fans, considering the apocalyptic nature of Infinity War. But others have argued that there's no way Groot could be killed off, considering the fact that we've already gone through that onscreen in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Groot's appearance in Infinity War has been speculated about by many, especially following his "Tween Groot" appearance in one of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's post-credit scenes. With James Gunn revealing that Groot will take on a "teen" form in Infinity War, which was later confirmed on the film's first poster, it's any question exactly what that could entail.

Diesel has been optimistic about Groot's future in the MCU, arguing that a solo movie about the tree and his unlikely companion, Rocket Raccoon, could be in the cards. With that in mind, maybe just focus on having "a groot weekend", and not on Groot's potential fate.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
