Benedict Cumberbatch On What To Expect From 'Avengers: Infinity War'

There's one thing the Marvel fandom cannot stop talking about, and it has lots to do with Doctor Strange. Avengers: Infinity War is set to debut next year with actors like Benedict Cumberbatch in tow. The star opened up about the sequel during a recent press stop, and Cumberbatch had only good things to say about the Avengers film.

Thanks to Digital Spy, fans have learned more about the Avengers sequel because of Cumberbatch. The actor told the site a few vague details about the film, but Marvel fans are taking what they can get.

"It's ten years coming," Cumberbatch said of Avengers: Infinity War.

"It's just a huge, huge, huge amount of work, huge amount of storylines and it's all sort of pointing to this confrontation," he continued. "It's amazing to part of it even though I'm late to the party, it's very cool one to be part of it.

Cumberbatch seems convinced the Avengers film will change lots within the MCU, and the sorcerer's presence will be one of them. Doctor Strange entered the franchise last year with his standalone, but the sorcerer has kept isolated from the Avengers. Marvel's next film will bring him into the mighty team, and the studio's president perfectly explained why sorcerers have stayed away from Iron Man's squad until now.

Speaking to Collider, Kevin Feige said heroes like Doctor Strange had bigger issues to worry about than what the Avengers were fighting.

"There are people inhabiting the same world that are stopping buildings from falling down, robots from doing this, aliens from doing that – these people in this movie are stopping inter-dimensional forces from wiping out all of reality," the producer said.

"Although it doesn't necessarily come up, we've always assumed that the sorcerers have bigger fish to fry when they hear there's something in a city or there's a bank being robbed," Feige continued. "They're not thinking about it. They're thinking if we don't keep vigilant our sense of reality will disappear, and there won't be a bank to rob and there won't be a city to be conquered."

Details about Doctor Strange's bit in Avengers: Infinity War are being kept low-key, but fans are ready to see the hero interact with other MCU icons. Doctor Strange is expected to meet up with Thor and Loki in Thor: Ragnarok this year, so audiences have that interaction to look forward to.

Avengers: Infinity War opens up on May 4, 2018. Are you excited for the third Avengers film? Give the movie your personal Anticipation Ranking below!
