Avengers: Infinity War Deaths Teased by Russo Bros. and Kevin Feige

Marvel fans are more hyped than ever for the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe event that is Avengers: Infinity War, after first footage from the film was revealed during Disney's D23 Expo, as well as Marvel Studios' panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

During Marvel's press lines after the SDCC Hall H presentation, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Infinity War directors The Russo Brothers talked to MTV about the film - and which characters may potentially die it. While Feige was (as usual) more vague and coy about the issue, Joe Russo confronted it head on, saying:

"I think fans should be prepared for some very intense surprises in these movies. My brother and I believe in stakes; I believe that everything has to come to an end at some point, in order for it to have value, and so I think the audience should be prepared."

Feige also added that, "...I think it will be emotional for a lot of different reasons. And I think as all of our films try to do, we want to have laughs, we want to have the heart, we want to have the humor, and Infinity War has all that."

MCU fans have long expected Infinity War (Back when it was just called Avengers 3 and 4 around the Web) to be the transition point where the first generation of Avengers is retired, and a new one springs up in its place. There are so many Marvel Comics pathways that can be followed to transition out major characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and Black Widow (retirement, regeneration, artificial aging, comatose states, space and/or inter-dimensional displacement) without having to kill them for good.

It just remains to be seen how serious of "stakes" The Russo Brothers are into.

Avengers: Infinity War will be in theaters on May 2, 2018.
