Fox Producer On Why Cable Will Shake Up The X-Men Movies Universe

The time-traveling mutant Cable will soon be making his big screen debut in Deadpool 2, but his appearance will also have a profound impact on the greater X-Men universe.

As seen in X-Men: Days of Future past, time travel has the ability to change and alter almost anything. X-Men movies producer Hutch Parker recently sat down with ScreenRant to talk about the popular character and was asked what introducing him means for the franchise creatively.

"Well as you know, it's kind of implicit in your question, it just opens a whole series of doors. I think that was part of what was so exciting of adding him to the mix is, not only what he brings as a character – and I think what I think Brolin will bring to the part, which I think was just brilliant casting – but it expands the landscape again and gives us more flexibility and opportunity which is one of the ways we can keep this franchise feeling vibrant and exciting and fresh – by introducing elements that are exciting and dynamic and different.

Fans are excited to see Brolin interact with the also recently cast Zazie Beetz as his right hand Domino, and of course Ryan Reynold's Deadpool. Aside from the magic on screen, it will be nice for Fox to have his abilities in their pocket in case they want to rewrite the past one more time.

Deadpool 2 currently has as 4.18 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, and don't forget to submit your rating here.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapičić. Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller are also expected to return.

Deadpool's Holiday Blu-ray package is now available and retails for $25.99. Logan is now playing in theaters, while Gambit still has a release date of December 31 of 2017, though that is likely going to change. New Mutants has been announced for April 3, 2018, while Deadpool 2 will follow on June 1, 2018. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
