Charlie Cox Wants Black Widow In Marvel's Netflix Series

It's hard to be a superhero in the dating scene, and Marvel's complex cinematic universe only makes the issue more difficult. Take the Black Widow, for instance; In the comics, the former Soviet spy has dated her share of heroes, but she just can't get her hands on Daredevil these days thanks to his Netflix gig.

However, that doesn't mean Charlie Cox isn't interested in having the Red Room agent come over to the small screen.

Recently, the Daredevil actor stopped by Senascine to promote his upcoming bit in Marvel's The Defenders. It was there Cox said he was more than happy to welcome Scarlett Johansson to the Netflix team.

"Matt Murdock, in the Marvel Universe, dated Black Widow, so I think we need to get Scarlett Johansson on board," he said.

Fans would surely be down for the Netflix cameo, but there are some who are hesitant to welcome in Natasha Romanoff. After all, Matt Murdock did signal his returned affections for Karen Paige at the end of Daredevil's second season. Black Widow's entrance would put a huge hurdle for the couple to jump, and they may not be able to swing it.

In fact, the Avenger does have a history of mucking up Matt's romance with Karen. Daredevil winds up dumping Karen in the comics to be with Natasha at one point, and the pair move to San Francisco. Daredevil and the Black Widow become a vigilante duo in California, but they eventually split and go their separate ways. The guy isn't known for having the most healthy relationships, after all.

Of course, it doesn't seem likely that Johansson's character will drop into any of Marvel's Netflix series. The cameo would be one of the site's most expensive numbers, but it does not look like Marvel Studios would even approve the drop-by. The company's president Kevin Feige has stressed they have no plans to crossover the MCU's big- and small-screen ventures anytime soon, so it looks like Daredevil better keep Karen happy.

It's not like the Hell's Kitchen vigilante will be able to fall into the arms of the Black Widow should he screw his current relationship up.

If the Black Widow can't make it into any of Marvel's Netflix ventures, then Cox's co-star Finn Jones has his own suggestion. The actor chimed in, telling Senascine he wants the Hulk to drop by the small-screen franchise. Jones clarified he wants to see Mark Ruffalo's iteration of Dr. Bruce Banner stop by set, but he better stay clear of Harlem; The big guy doesn't have the best reputation in that borough.
