Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 introduces several new characters into the mix, but fans of the original will truly love the growth of two favorites, Star-Lord and Baby Groot.

In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt discussed the changing relationship between the two, one that has morphed into more of a father-son dynamic. Pratt says it al makes sense in one small moment (Slight spoilers ahead).

"When (Groot) climbs up on Quill's lap in the end and asks for the music and I'm listening to (Cat Stevens' Father and Son) and I'm reflecting on the relationship I had with the man who raised me, it's in that moment I realize that I've now entered a chapter in my life where I'm going to be the man who's raising somebody. ... I think that's the sort of journey that every parent will take when they have a kid, and I think Quill gets to that at the end."

Fans have seen aspects of this in the trailers so far, and it will continue to grow and change in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. That's one of the great parts about a sequel, as Pratt says "And, we didn't have to spend a ton of time telling you who these characters are — you already know. So we have three solid acts to just tell the story."

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
