Josh Brolin is selling tickets to the gun show!

Ever since Deadpool was released in February 2016, which confirmed in its Ferris Bueller-inspired after-credits scene that Cable (a.k.a. Nathan Summers) would appear in the sequel, fans speculated which actor would end up portraying the bionic-armed, silver-haired, and muscle-bound mutant soldier.

At one time or another, names like Michael Shannon, Brad Pitt, David Harbour, Russell Crowe, and Kyle Chandler were rumored for the role. But in the end, producers chose to pair Ryan Reynolds up with Brolin, selecting him for his gravitas and physicality.

And even though Brolin was only officially cast a month ago, he has hit the gym hard and drastically changed his diet in order to get a superhero physique.

"Cable's coming, growing from the inside," Brolin wrote. "Clean building from a past of donut travel to the present hard case that he is. No sugar. No bread. No pastas. The machine is being built. I'm pissed off."

The Deadpool sequel, which is being directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) and written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming at the end of this spring. The film will introduce Deadpool's time-traveling mutant partner Cable, who is being played by Men In Black 3 star Josh Brolin; and X-Force member Domino, who is being portrayed by Atlanta actress Zazie Beetz. Supporting characters from the original film — such as Colossus (voiced by Stefan Kapicic), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni), and Wade Wilson's love interest Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) — are also expected to return.

Deadpool 2 will arrive in theater in 2018.
