Deadpool 2 Writers Explain The Cable And Wade Dynamic

Cable and Deadpool's bromance is a torrid affair, one that is sure to be mined in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. While the film is still a ways away from going into production, and even being released, there's a discussion to be had in who they cast and that actor's chemistry with Ryan Reynolds.

Deadpool is a goofy, flighty, and fickle person. Cable is a time traveller with vast mutant abilities kept in check to contain a debilitating disease, raised by a cult, and driven by the sole purpose of destroying the all-powerful Apocalypse. Essentially, the two couldn't be any more different.

And it's that odd couple formula that made Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau so popular for decades, applied with a bit of comic book logic to great effect in the comic book pages. Now, director David Leitch just has to put that on the screen.

The casting will be a huge component, but writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick know the foundation is laid with a great script, just like in the first film. The writing duo behind Deadpool 2 recently spoke with Coming Soon about the new character and his dynamic with the Merc With The Mouth.

"Ryan [Reynolds] plays Deadpool with a hint of femininity, and I think that can be funny opposite a Cable who's über-masculine," Reese said. "That'll come into casting and performance and the character design and his wardrobe and things like that too. I think we'll definitely play into that."

The production recently cast Atlanta's Zazie Beetz in the role of Domino, so it is definitely moving closer toward being ready to shoot. We should be finding out about who will play Deadpool's BFF shortly, as rumors fly out left and right about various actors.

Expect a decision to be made in the coming weeks as Deadpool 2 ramps up for production. Are you excited for the next film to bring in even more elements from the X-Men Universe? Let us know with your vote in the Anticipation Rankings!
