Venompool Returns In Edge Of Venomverse

Brace yourself Marvel fans because Venompool is back and he's entering Edge of Venomverse.

Marvel's August 2017 solicitations included solicits for Edge of Venomverse #4 and #5, the final two issues of the limited series. While the fourth issue of series return to the world of "Old Man Logan" and gives the grizzled Wolverine a symbiote of his, the final issue features a new story of symbiote-bonded Merc with a Mouth, Venompool, written by Clay McLeod Chapman and drawn by James Stokoe.

Venompool was created by Shawn Moll and Rick Remeber for an alternate reality story titled "What If? The Venom Symbiote Possessed Deadpool?" In that reality, Deadpool was hired by Galactus to kill the Beyonder but ended up hanging out with the Beyonder instead. Then Spider-Man showed up and started begging the Beyonder to remove the Venom symbiote from his body. The symbiote left Peter Parker and clung onto Deadpool instead, and so Venompool was born.

It is surprising to see Venompool show up in Edge of Venomverse since he's believed to have died twice over. First, he erased himself and his universe but then, somehow surviving that, he was recruited by Dreadpool into the Evil Deadpool Corps and supposedly died during the Multiversal Deadpool War. Perhaps the multiverse re-calibrating events of Secret Wars gave Venompool a new universe to call home.

Edge of Venomverse is inspired by the popular Venomized variants that launched in March 2017. The series of variant covers reimagined Marvel's most popular and iconic characters as they'd appear after bonding with the Venom symbiote.

Edge of Venomverse will lead into a major Venom events that Marvel has in the planning for 2017. The five issue series kicks off in July and features stories with venomized versions of Wolverine, Gwenpool, Ghost Rider, Old Man Logan, and Deadpool.
