Deadpool Creator Reveals His First-Ever Sketch Of Domino

Deadpool 2 introduced its Zazie Beetz version of Domino to the world yesterday, but for context, the character's creator reached back to her origins.

Rob Liefeld revealed the very first sketch of the lucky mercenary, who first appeared back in New Mutants #98 (though there is some debate on that). Identity aside, her design was first put to paper in 1991.

Liefeld shared the sketch with the caption "My first sketch of Domino, ever. 1991. Name, powers, purpose enclosed with the bill of sale, one of many characters that I provided in a long and successful partnership with mighty Marvel! #robliefeld #zaziebeetz #Deadpool #marvel #xforce"

Domino has been a fan favorite every since she debuted, but her powers pose an interesting challenge on the big screen. Deadpool 2 director David Leitch described their approach for the movie.

"(Laughs) We're excited to play with that idea in choreography. I'm not going to give you how it's all going to play out. As a choreographer, having a character with her abilities is really a trick. I think at first it seems like a problem. Like oh my god, how do you demonstrate luck?And then you just see it like, oh, this is the coolest opportunity ever, so we're really excited and we're creating really great stuff for her character."

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool/Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Zazie Beetz (Domino), Josh Brolin (Cable/Nathan Summers), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Leslie Uggams (Blind AL), Julian Dennison, and Stefan Kapičić (Colossus).

Deadpool's Holiday Blu-ray package is now available and retails for $25.99. Logan is also on Blu-ray and DVD, while Gambit still has a release date of December 31 of 2017, though that is likely going to change. New Mutants has been announced for April 3, 2018, while Deadpool 2 will follow on June 1, 2018. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
