EXCLUSIVE: Deadpool: Back In Black #2 Marvel Preview

Today we've got an exclusive look at Deadpool: Back In Black #2, which depicts the lovable mercenary Wade Wilson's time in the black symbiote and introduces the fan favorite Power Pack into the mix.

Deadpool was already deadly enough without a symbiote that allows him to change form and devour pretty much anything that gets in his way. For Power Pack's sake, hopefully, Wilson is able to keep all that power under control. Knowing Deadpool's luck, though, that's probably not going to happen.

You can view the new pages from the upcoming second issue in the gallery, along with the Ron Lim penciled variant cover. Writer Cullen Bunn previously spoke to ComicBook.com about the series, specifically, it's foray into the 1980's and Deadpool's team-up with the Power Pack.

"This series takes place in the 80s, so I wanted the stories, guest stars, and villains to represent that timeline. This also gave me the opportunity to use a few characters we don't see much of these days. I've always wanted to write classic Power Pack, because I love those characters. But I've also always wanted to write an Obnoxio the Clown story, and he works well with both Deadpool and Power Pack. Other characters who will appear are Machine Man, Black Cat, and Kraven the Hunter. And it would seem like Spider-Man would show up at some point, doesn't it? In addition, there will be some new characters and some more modern characters who we'll learn have been bumping around the Marvel Universe since the 80s."

During 1984's Secret Wars, Deadpool was introduced to an alien symbiote who went on to become Spider-Man's black costume and, eventually, Venom. Okay, okay, maybe that really happened in Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars. Point is, did you know that after Spider-Man rejected the costume…it went slinking back to Deadpool on the rebound? And they went on adventures together? You didn't? Well, you will, now, thanks to this series by Cullen Bunn (The Deadpool Killogy) & Salva Espin (Deadpool & The Mercs For Money)!

Deadpool: Back In Black #2 hits comic stores on October 19th.
