One Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Post-Credits Scene Takes Place At The Time As Avengers 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had its premiere this spring, but fans are still analyzing its post-credits scenes. The blockbuster left fans with lots of teasers, but one of them starring Groot got audiences buzzing. The clip starred an adolescent Groot mouthing off to Star-Lord, and it looks as if the teaser occurs at the same time as Avengers: Infinity War.

James Gunn spoke CinemaBlend earlier this month, and the director said the post-credits scene does feature Groot's Avengers: Infinity War design. Gunn confirmed Groot is "exactly the same" in the film movie as he is in the post-credits footage.

"That's exactly the Groot we designed for Infinity War," he said.

Fans are interested to learn Groot will exercise his adolescent form in the third Avengers flick. The second Guardians of the Galaxy film saw the hero strut around as a toddler while the first featured his adult form. Avengers: Infinity War will house a moody, borderline emo take on Groot as the tree alien discovers the world of adolescent angst.

With Groot's evolution confirmed, fans are wondering about the timeline of Avengers: Infinity War. A slew of reports have confirmed the third film will take place about four years following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also said Star-Lord's team will have "evolved slightly" by the time Avengers: Infinity War occurs, so the time-gap could explain such a change.

As for Groot himself, Gunn was hesitant to spill much else about the character during his interview. The director shied away from answering questions about whether Groot had restarted his lifecycle anytime before the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. However, Gunn did say fans will have to check out the MCU's upcoming features to learn about the hero's story.

"It's complicated. I think you have to stick through future movies to find out exactly what the story of Groot is," the director explained.

"I get a lot of questions, and the thing I say that bums people out more than anything else is that Baby Groot doesn't have the memories of Adult Groot. But it's complicated! His life is not like our lives... It's his aging, and Groots, where they come from and how they do their thing. It's pretty much worked out in my head, but we've only let out pieces of that."
