Who Dies In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?

Yondu's Ravagers

You could really do an entire body count list for members of Yondu's Ravager squad who get taken out in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but the short answer is: most of them.

Some of Yondu's men get taken out by Rocket's traps (and battle skills) while the Guardians are crash landed on that remote planet; however, the bulk of his men get tossed out of the airlock after another faction of the squad break off in support of Taserface's mutiny.

Taserface's reign doesn't last long though, and the members of Youndu's team who sided with him meet a quick, violent, end when Youndu gets control over his arrow again.

Taserface

Taserface tries to make his bid for glory by fostering a mutiny in Yondu's ranks - and for a brief moment, he manages to do just that.

However, Taserface never does quite get the glory he wants, as his name is too lame to earn him any real respect. And, when Yondu finally regains control of his deadly arrow, Taserface finds himself on the wrong end of a world of pain.

He dies as he lived: trying to make the name "Taserface" live on in legend - just as his plans literally blow up in his face.

Ego

Peter Quill searched all his life for the father he never knew - only to finally meet him and discover that he was a real asshole.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 kicks off its third act with Peter shooting his father down, after learning that it was daddy who killed his mommy; to finish the job, Peter takes on the superpowers of a Celestial and beats Ego down, while Rocket and Baby Groot blow up his core essence real good.

...Ego, defleated!

Yondu

The most emotional part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's story is no doubt the arc of Yondu (Michael Rooker), and how it affects Peter Quill, Rocket, and even the Ravager captains (like Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord), who we now know were once Guardians of the Galaxy, themselves.

Yondu finds his way back from rock bottom to a place of honor in Vol. 2 - but unfortunately, that honor comes in the form of an honorable death.

When Groot and Rocket's bomb goes off, Peter Quill is still stranded on the dying planet Ego - until Yondu swoops in with a jet pack and flies him to safety. With just one jet pack and one spacesuit in his possession, Yondu makes the hard sacrifice of giving Peter his suit, dying in the cold of space with the peace and resolve of a true martyr.

The Walkman

Yes, unfortunately, Peter Quill's iconic Walkman bites the dust in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!

When Peter tries to resist Ego's evil whims, his father blames the resistance on his mother's soft-hearted human nature, and seeks to sever that connection by destroying the one object that still binds her to Peter: The Walkman.

There's no real confirmation on whether either or both of the "Awesome Mix" tapes were destroyed with the Walkman. In order to replace the loss (and help keep the Guardians rocking out), Yondu's sidekick Kraglin gives Peter a gift: the latest thing people on Earth are listening to in 2014: a Microsoft Zune.
