WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2! ONLY LOOK IF YOU WANT TO KNOW!

Guardians of the Galaxy proved that a soundtrack could be vital to a film's success, with Peter Quill using his mother's Awesome Mix cassette as a guide through the stars. The songs on the mix set the tone for the movie, and the album was a hit among fans.

At the end of the first film, Peter finally opened the present he was given from his dying mother, when he was just eight years old. This is how he got Awesome Mix Vol. 2, which became the soundtrack for the second Guardians.

With Quill's mother dead, and no more presents waiting to be unwrapped, fans were wondering how there would be an Awesome Mix Vol. 3 for the third movie. Not to worry, Guardians Vol. 2 answered that question for everybody.

Again, there are MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

At the end of the film, during Yondu's funeral, Kraglin reveals that there was a gift the fallen Ravager captain had purchased for Peter at a junk shop, years ago. He then handed Peter a Zune. Kraglin said Yondu thought he would like it because it could hold 300 songs, and it was the thing all of the Earth-people were listening to nowadays.

As we all know, the Zune was a total failure. The iPod quickly overtook the Zune in the market, and the product didn't last long.

Peter would have no way of knowing that, though. The guy left Earth in 1988, so he has no idea what modern technology hear looks like.

So, heading into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, expect the music to be a little different. With 300 songs on his trusty Zune, Star-Lord will have plenty of jams in his arsenal.
