Guardians Of The Galaxy Director Reveals Which Marvel Character He'd Take To Space

To say the least, James Gunn doesn't mind playing in his own strange, little corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He's unconventional like that, having helmed two adventures of the space-faring Guardians of the Galaxy. He's even said that if he were to take on another property, it would be Moon Knight.

So when he was asked which established Marvel Studios character he'd like to see make a trip to outer space, Gunn didn't say something boring like "Spider-Man" or "Iron Man."

While speaking with Fandango, the director revealed which character he would take to the cosmos when asked if he'd like to see an Avenger join the team for an adventure.

"The one guy I would love to bring into outer space is the Kingpin from the Daredevil TV show, so I don't know if I'd want to bring an Avenger into outer space," Gunn said. "But I wouldn't mind bringing Wilson Fisk up there to see what he would do in outer space."

That might sound a little strange, but that's precisely why it's a perfect answer from the director.

Vincent D'Onofrio's cold and calculated demeanor as Fisk made the character one of the best parts of the Daredevil series, and fans are waiting anxiously to see the character pop up again.

While Gunn might have a difficult time making such a trip for Fisk believable in the grand scheme of web-slinging teens and hammer-flinging gods, there's no doubt that Fisk's reactions and scheming once he's interacting with characters like Rocket and Groot would be both entertaining and humorous.

He'd probably be leading a group like the Ravagers in no time, starting to spread his influence across the galaxy at large. The Kingpin is an opportunist like that.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit theaters May 5.
