Inhumans Star Reveals Why Royal Family Doesn't Get Along

Marvel's latest series to grace television screens will first make a huge premiere in IMAX theaters this September, giving fans the chance to see the first two episode focused on the intrigue and deception surrounding the Inhuman Royal Family.

With showrunner Scott Buck guiding the series, Marvel's The Inhumans will focus on King Black Bolt, Queen Medusa, and the conniving Maximus (Marvel), among other popular characters from the franchise. Though the species was first revealed and given prominence in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, the Royal Family get their own series on ABC.

Maximus and Black Bolt's rivalry will drive the events of the series as the silent king's brother attempts to usurp the throne. Actor Anson Mount portrays the Inhumans leader and spoke to ScreenRant about his character's relationship with Maximus.

"That's one of the more enjoyable relationships in the show because of the antagonism of two people who on some level, love each other," Mount said. "Scott Buck's a smart writer. He's starting it in a place where you'll have places to go. That's all I say about that."

When Black Bolt escapes the Inhuman kingdom of Attilan after Maximus' coup, he is separated from his wife Medusa, causing even more problems for the disgraced leader. Black Bolt's power set includes a destructive voice that can level buildings with a slight whisper so he relies on Medusa to communicate for him, but their connection goes beyond that need.

"Their relationship is going be a real attaching point for the audience because of how deeply in love these two characters are in love with each other," Mount said. "They really do need each other to survive, to do what they do, to be what they are. She is his voice."
